Winona Blanche Beeman
Winona Blanche Beeman, 100, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Cedarhurst Senior Living. Born October 29, 1922, in Richland Center, WI, the daughter of Herbert and Nellie (Core) Kershner. She grew up on the family farm in Richland Center until 1940, when she moved to Rockford and married Maynard Beeman on October 17, 1940. After raising their family and retiring in 1982, they moved back to the family farm. Winona loved her life on the farm, where she would garden and tend her flowers and vegetables, take walks in the woods, relax on her porch, and host family and friends. She was a faithful servant of God all her life and enjoyed listening to Christian messages, reading Scripture, teaching Sunday school, and was a member of the Doll House Group and White Cross Women’s Church Group. Always a hands-on grandma, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Winona was also a talented cook and baker. Besides her awesome chicken and noodles and famous pies, she may have been best known in her family for being the Skip-Bo Queen, playing endless games, she was rarely beaten. Several years ago, she returned to Rockford, making her home at Cedarhurst Senior Living. Special thanks to the wonderful staff from both Cedarhurst and Northern Illinois Hospice, who became such good friends to her. Our family is forever grateful for the loving care and friendship Mom had in her final years. Survivors include her children, Connie (Walt) Pomering, Larry (Wenna) Beeman, Holly (Mike) Beeman, Randy (Lisa) Beeman, and Rick Beeman; daughter-in-law, Jill Beeman; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and many grand-dogs and cats who she loved. Predeceased by her husband, Maynard; daughter, JoAnn Pagano; son, Kenneth Beeman; and great-grandchildren, Angel and Alex.
