William “Bill” H. Johnson, 84, of South Beloit passed away Friday, November 5, 2021, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Born October 10, 1937, in Rockford, IL, the son of Clifford E. and Grace (Paulson) Johnson. Graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1955, and received a bachelor’s degree in 1975. Veteran of the U.S. Airforce, serving from 1955-1959. Married Marita Klingman on June 15, 1963, in Court Street Methodist Church. Member of Grace Lutheran Church. Bill enjoyed building model airplanes, doing crossword puzzles, playing slot machines, and playing cards with family. He also enjoyed working in his garden, hiking, and picking raspberries at Rock Cut State Park. Survivors include his wife, Marita; sons, Christopher (Brenda) Johnson, Gregory (Shannon) Johnson, and Scott Johnson; grandchildren, Tyler (Kayla Johnson) Johnson, Tory (Chris) Johnson, Alyssa (Jayro Montoya) Johnson, Kayla (fiancé, Matt Clark) Johnson, Alexis Johnson and Savannah (Darein Black) Hoy; great-grandchildren, Elyse Johnson, Payton Johnson, Easton Clark, Emmett Clark, Ace Montoya, Parker Johnson, Charleigh Johnson, and two on the way; sister, Gloria Brinker; brother, Roger E. Johnson; sister-in-law, Benita Carlson. Predeceased by his parents; brother, Clifford L. Johnson; and nephew, Steven Johnson. The family wishes to thank DaVita Dialysis nurse Carol Smith, the nursing staff at OSF Saint Anthony, and Bill’s son, Scott, for their compassionate care.
Service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2021, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL 61111, with visitation from noon to service time. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Lutheran Church, Loves Park.
