William E. Doherty

William "Bill" E. Doherty, 100, of Loves Park, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2026, at Alpine Fireside.

Born on Tuesday, February 16th, 1926, in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Fintan and Uveta (Bloyer) Doherty. Proud veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Bill married Dorothy Vachon on Aug. 11, 1951, in Rockford IL. Employed as a Machine Assembler in the textile division by Barber Coleman Co./ Reed Chatwood for 44 years. Bill was a devoted husband and father and a faithful Catholic. Member of St. Bridget Church. He enjoyed watching his granddaughter's sporting events. Avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan. Bill could tell a good story of his experiences and adventures. Bill was very handy and enjoyed fixing almost anything.

Survivors include Daughter, Karen (Marc) Hartler; Granddaughters, Natale and Margaret Hansen; sister-in-Law, Janet Doherty and brother-in-law, Robert (Gloria) Vachon. Predeceased by his Wife, Siblings Marlyn (Bill) Wenger, Robert (Jean) Doherty, John (Donna) Doherty, Mary (Ted) Misuraca, Richard Doherty, Loraine and Jeanette Doherty.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Monday, November 9, 2026, at St. Bridget Catholic Church. Visitation from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago, IL.
