Wayne A. Wells, 87, of Rockford, IL, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022, in his home. Born January 31, 1935, in Peoria, IL, the son of Rudolph R. and Jeanette (Schackelman) Wells. Married Glenda J. Handley on May 1, 1965. Employed in the aircraft division as an engineer by Barber-Colman for many years. Wayne was an avid fisherman. He loved grilling and smoking meat. Wayne was a great cook. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Wayne loved spending time in Northern Wisconsin with his family, to ultimately include three generations who shared his love for being up north at Lost Land Lake and Big Lake Sissabagma. Survivors include his wife, Glenda; daughters, Vicki (David) Sklar and Lori (Scott) Cruden; grandchildren, Alyssa (Jacob) Murphy, Abigail (Blake) Morhardt, Phillip Sklar, and Meagan (Benjamin) Pearson; great-grandchildren, Maverik, Nixon, Gretzky, Indy, Pearl, Stark, and Macoy. Predeceased by his parents; sister, Joann Reichenbach; and brother, Earl Wells.
Memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022, in Central Christian Church, 6595 Guilford Road, Rockford, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Cremation rites accorded. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Loves Park.
