Wade Earl Baxter, 65, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at William S. Middleton VA Hospital. Born August 5, 1957, in Rockford, the son of Robert and Constance (Pagles) Baxter. Veteran of the U.S. Army. Employed most recently as a cabinet maker. Wade enjoyed building things and playing the drums. He also enjoyed water skiing, skied with the Ski Broncs, and was a skilled Ski Broncs boat driver for many years. Survivors include his siblings, Wanda (Alan) Cwiklo, Ward (Jackie) Baxter, and Carlotta “Cookie” (Benny) Taylor; uncle, Carl (Kathy) Pagles; nieces and nephews, Jerel (Shelley Wagner) Folts, Zared Folts, Zachary (Tiffani) Blackwell, Molly Cwiklo, Madeline (Lucas Tassoni) Cwiklo, Tyler (Stephanie) Baxter, Cameron (Courtney Crimmins) Baxter, Garrett Baxter, Estee (Tyler) Sneed, and Annabeth (Josh) Hazlewood; great-nieces and -nephews, Brennan Folts, Declan Blackwell, Rowen Blackwell, Bentley Baxter, Maryella Sneed, Marylee Sneed, Lake Hazlewood, and a baby Hazlewood on the way; cousins, Linda Combs, Teddy Smith, Heather Pagles, Wesley (Lena) Pagles and their daughter, Ruby; and close friends, Ken, Brian, Cliff and Ralph. Special thanks to the ICU and hospice staff at William S. Middleton VA Hospital. Predeceased by his grandparents and parents.
