Virginia "Ginny" Schaff

December 14, 1929 — August 31, 2021

Virginia “Ginny” Ann Schaff, 91, of Rockford passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 31, 2021, in her home, surrounded by family.  Born December 14, 1929, in Rockford, the daughter of Ralph E. and Mary Marguerite (Hutchins) Beckington.  Married Richard W. Schaff.  Member of Court Street Methodist Church and Quilters Group.  Virginia loved her family, farmette, and Fox News.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, and reading.  She had a love for her animals and was an avid horse lover.  Survivors include her daughters, Julia (Austin) Crawford of Rockton, Margaret (John) Bednar of North Carolina and Rosemary (Doug) Smith of Roscoe; grandchildren, Melanie (Austin) Billingslea of Arizona, Hanna Crawford of Wisconsin, Natalie Crawford of Wisconsin, William (Lindsay) Bednar of Brooklyn, NY, Chelsea Bednar of Woodstock, NY, Jeanette Bednar of Montclair, NJ, Emma Bednar of Boone, NC, Elise Bednar of Montclair, Spencer Bednar of Boone, NC, Ryan Smith of Roscoe and Haley Smith of Roscoe; great-grandchild, Piper Rose Billingslea; several nieces and nephews; her beloved and spoiled dog, Sadie; and special neighbor / friend, Sue, and Lois (Truman) Landers.  Predeceased by her husband; daughter, Susan Schaff; and brothers, Herbert Beckington and Arthur Beckington.  The family wishes to thank Chrissy Shipman for her frequent check-ins, many snowplows, and her friendship.

Private services will be held with burial in Garden Prairie Cemetery Association, Belvidere.  Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
