Vernie Brown

Vernie L. Brown, 89, of Machesney Park passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017, in River Bluff Nursing Home. Born August 30, 1928, in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of Earl and Lottie (Hill) Patterson.  Moved to the Rockford area in 1940.  Married Cecil R. Brown on June 17, 1972, in Rockford.  Employed by G. C. Thorsen for 26 years, retiring in 1990.  Member of Kishwaukee Baptist Church.  Survivors include her husband, Cecil; sons, Perry Brainard and Paul (Cathy) Ramsey; daughters, Barbara (John) Thomas, Kristina (Bobby) Spradlin and Jacqueline (Ray) McElyea; step-sons, Cecil (Betty) Brown and Jay Brown; step-daughter, Debbie (Tom) Wayman; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Opal Thompson.  Predeceased by her parents; brothers, Elmer, Bill, Robert and Dale Patterson; sister, Earline Geiger.

Service at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 12:30 p.m. to service time. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Kishwaukee Baptist Church.
