Vern E. Larson, 87, of Loves Park passed away peacefully Thursday, December 17, 2020, in his home. Born January 20, 1933, in Milbank, SD, the son of Carl O. and Alice I. (Stenzel) Larson. Veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. Married Janice “Earlene” Cox on February 16, 1952, in Rockford. He worked 45 years for Rockford Screw Products and 18 years for Pneumatic Cylinders & Couplers. Member of Loves Park VFW and SM&SF Club. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan, who was so proud that he lived to see them win the World Service. He lived a good life and said he was “the luckiest man in the world”. Vern loved spending time with family, fishing, and hunting. He was loved and will be missed. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Earlene; children, Darla (Russ) Narzinski of Fletcher, MO, Sandy (David) Tucker of Durand, Joel (Mary) Larson of Largo, FL, and Paula (Frank) Gates of Rockford; grandchildren, Jerome Daniel, Sarah Narzinski, Krista (Steve) Tucker, Kelsey (Andrew) Meinert, Joseph (Diane) Gates, Alex (Sara) Tucker, Hannah (Logan) Larson and Timmy Larson; great-grandchildren, Payton, Grace, Chase, Hailey, Troy, Dominic, Skye, Ethan, Adrian, Jayden, Nicoli, Levi, Lydia, and Reagan; brother, Don (Janet) Larson of Rockford; sister-in-law, Mary Larson; numerous nieces, nephews, and special niece, Carol Bjork; loyal dog, K.D. Predeceased by his parents; daughter, Venita Daniel; infant twin sons, Randall and Andrew; brothers, Earl and Bob; and sister, Avis Hansen. The family wishes to thank Northern Illinois Hospice and special nurse practitioner, Molly, for their care and support.
