Tammera “Tami” Jo Gouchenour, 60, of Loves Park, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and beloved dogs.
Tami was born on December 16, 1965, in Houston, the daughter of Robert Evans Jr. and Marsha Evans. She married Daniel Jay on April 16, 1999, in Rockford. Sharing many years of love and devotion until his passing.
Tami dedicated her career to helping others, working as a paraprofessional with the Harlem School District and at Milestone Life Touch. She had a caring heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
She deeply enjoyed spending time with her family, singing karaoke, and creating lasting memories with those she loved. Tami was especially known for her amazing banana bread. Her warmth, kindness, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
Tami is survived by her daughter, Danielle (Matthew) Strange; her son, Jake Gouchenour; her cherished grandson, Huxsin Strange; her aunts, Kim Eklund and Kelli Evans; her brother-in-law, Todd (Darlene) Gouchenour; several nieces and nephews; close family friend, Taite; and her special companions, Luna, Luca, and Riley Blu.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Daniel Jay.
Tami’s love for family, her compassionate nature, and the happiness she brought to others will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
Memorial Visitation on May 26, 2026 from 4pm - 6pm, with Service at 7pm. At Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL 61111. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
