Steven R. Bowes, 67, of Rockford, our kind, gentle and loving son, brother, uncle, and cousin, went to his heavenly home on July 15, 2022. Born April 20, 1955, in Rockford, son of Robert and Arlene (McCaffrey) Bowes. In his early years, he loved playing basketball and most days you could find him at the hoops. Steve was very adventurous, especially traveling to New York City. He enjoyed music and entertaining his family with his beautiful voice. Steve made friends easily and we all enjoyed his quick-witted humor which brought smiles to us all. He enjoyed receiving lottery tickets from his family, always hoping for that big win! Survivors include his sisters, Pat (Dan), Barb (Don), and Jane; brother, John (Mary Joanne); cherished uncle of Lon, Amy, Angie, Lori, Adam (Mary Beth), Jason (Katie), Julie, Justin, Eric, Andrea (Nick), and Ryan; great-nieces and -nephews, Tristin, Gracie, Julien, Ryan, Owen, Alycia, Monika, Tajinae, Neveah, Harper, Emersynn, Carson, Allison, and Logan; numerous other family members. Predeceased by his parents; and sister, Sue Bowes Johns. Special thanks of gratitude for the many years of dedication, support, medical care, and friendship given by Steve’s nurse practitioner, Megan. We would also like to thank Tori, Roscrance, Rachael, Edwin, Erica, and all the staff at Alden Alma Nelson for their loving compassion and special care they provided over the years.
As per his request, cremation rites were accorded. Burial will be private. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
