Stanley Sliwa

Stanley J. Sliwa, 95, of Loves Park passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016, in Alpine Fireside Health Center. Born December 26, 1920, in Chicago, the son of Walenty and Amelia (Tyks) Sliwa. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Married June A. (Hulbert) Pocius on July 7, 1987, in Bellwood. Lived 29 years in Loves Park, coming here from Bellwood. Employed by Western Electric in Cicero for 43 years. Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, Telephone Pioneers and Loves Park VFW Post 9757. Avid Chicago Cubs fan. He loved race horses and traveling on bus tours. Survivors include his wife, June; son, Jim (LuAnn) Pocius; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a brother and 3 sisters.
