Simon Kluver

April 29, 1934 — May 19, 2025

Simon “Sam” H. Kluver, 91, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Manor Court of Freeport, IL.

Born on April 29, 1934, in Alexandria, MN, the son of Henry and Talena (DeGrote) Kluver.  He was one of 15 children.

He enlisted in the Marines and served from 1953 through 1955 with an honorable discharge.  On his way home from the service, he stopped in Rockford, IL, to visit his two brothers and found a job with Rockford Screw Products from which he was employed 41 years until 1996.

He met and married Vera Clinkenbeard and they just celebrated 69 years of marriage.

Sam enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling.  But most of all he relished all the time he could get with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Vera; sons, Randy (Colleen) Kluver of Flower Mound, TX, and Richard (Penny) Kluver of Three Lakes, WI; daughter, Cheryl (Curt Lamm) Morgan of Freeport, IL; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents and 10 siblings.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Delahanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.  Inurnment will be at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park, IL.
