Shirley Sue Smith, 79, of South Beloit, IL, was called home Sunday, October 1, 2023, surrounded by family. Born August 23, 1944, in Central City, KY, the daughter of Harold and Opal (Anderson) Gray. Shirley enjoyed gardening and cooking. Survivors include her daughters, Rhonda (Don) Harrison, Belinda (Paul) Smith, and Tina Frizzell; grandchildren, Brandon (Alice) Harrison, Nathan (Jackie) Smith, Paige Harrison, and Michael (Makaela) Smith; great-grandchildren, Xander, Avery, Cash, Payton, Cora, and one on the way; sister, Clatie Bean of Central City, KY; brothers, James (Mary) Gray, and Kenneth Gray; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; father of her girls, Robert Leon Frizzell; brothers, Harold, Gray, and George Gray; sister-in-law, Wanda Gray; brother-in-law, Earl Bean; and nephews, James Gray, and Casey Coe.

Funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, with visitation from noon to service time. Graveside service at 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2023, in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL.
