Shirley L. Miner, 75, of Machesney Park passed away peacefully Sunday, April 30, 2017, in her home. Born March 9, 1942, in Thompsonville, IL, the daughter of Jewel and Martha (Smothers) Miner. Shirley was a musician, machinist and product inspector. She retired from Trotter Machine in 2015. Longtime active member at Harlem United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing music with her friends and listening to music in general. Shirley loved being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. She loved animals and would tend to any animal in need. She was especially fond of horses. Survivors include her beloved niece, Sara Miner; her closest and best friend, Linda Clark; cousins, Donnie Palmer, Eddie Palmer, Danny Lampley, Bobby Smothers and Rita Patton; many friends; and her cat, Morris. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Predeceased by her parents; brother, Gary Miner; cousin, Charles Palmer; and her close musician friends, Anne Guist, Barbie Chamberlain and Kay Koster.
Service at 2 p.m. Monday, May 8, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 1 p.m. to service time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
