Shirley Claeyssen-Smith-Olson

Shirley A. Claeyssen-Smith-Olson, 93, of Rockford passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017. Born September 18, 1924, in Rockford.  Married Chuck Claeyssen, Harold C. Smith and Lawrence A. Olson.  Formerly employed by Product Control and owned a restaurant in Genoa.  Active member of Grace Lutheran Church for many years where she was also the church wedding coordinator.  She was Chaplin at the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Post 77, in Belvidere.  Shirley loved all of her family, motorcycles, horses and dancing.  Survivors include daughter-in-law, Donna Claeyssen; grandchildren, Jeff, Brian and Susann Claeyssen; great-grandson, Sean; great-great-granddaughter, Carmyn Claeyssen.  Predeceased by her parents, Chester A. Brace and Hazel (Palmer) Brace-Schnider; husbands, Chuck Claeyssen, Harold C. Smith and Lawrence A. Olson; son, Frank Claeyssen; grandson, William Bradley Claeyssen; and sister, Roberta Ragsdale.

Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 9, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Lutheran Church.  Visit delehantyfh.com.
