Shirley A. Bauer, 89, of Rockford, peacefully passed away, Tuesday, December 29, 2020.  She was in the presence of her loving family at her daughter’s home in Loves Park.  Born on February 21, 1931, in Bancroft, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas and Agnes (Albert) Nemmers.  Shirley moved to Rockford, where she met the love of her life, Frank Bauer, Sr.   They married on February 18, 1950 and were inseparable until his death on June 12, 1994.  Shirley was a devoted wife and loving mother.  Shirley was a dedicated member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Loves Park, for almost 65 years.  Shirley was deeply supportive and involved in Frank’s political career with the Village of Machesney Park.  She campaigned with him and participated in numerous public appearances during his time in public office from 1981 to his passing in 1994.  Shirley dedicated her life to her faith, family, and friends.  She will be deeply missed by her family; including children, Rick Bauer, Pam (George) Parnello, Jean Ann Bauer, Victoria (David) Todd, Frank (Barbara) Bauer, Jr., and James (Vicky) Bauer; her eight grandchildren, Susan, Kristopher, Bethany, Adam, Carissa, Andrew, Clair, and Skylar; and five great-grandchildren, Kia, Ben, Evan, Seth, and Frank.  Predeceased by her husband and several siblings. The family would like to express their thanks for the exceptional compassion and loving care given to our Mother for the past year and a half by Wesley Willows Senior Living Community in Rockford, and especially the Hunt Terrance staff.
