Sharon E. Oppegard, 87, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Ascension Saint Anne Place, Rockford. Born May 5, 1938, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Robert K. and Doris (Peterson) Oliver. She graduated from East High School, Class of 1956. She married Thomas Oppegard on December 24, 1957, in Rockford, IL. Member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Sharon was an avid reader. She enjoyed knitting, doing crafts, playing Bridge and Mah-Jong with friends. Survivors include her daughters, Beth Francik of Machesney Park, IL, Lori (William) Chedister of Geneva, IL, and Ellen Oppegard of Seal Beach, CA; grandchildren, Ryan (Abby) McCarthy, Scott (Anne) Chedister, Lee (Sam Hodapp) Chedister, Krista (Garrett) Olivotti, and Melanie Francik; great-grandchildren, Colin McCarthy, Owen McCarthy, Eleanor Chedister, Mary Chedister, Jane Chedister, Lillian Hodapp, Archer Hodapp, Bella Olivotti, and Evan Olivotti. Predeceased by her parents and husband. Special thanks to OSF Hospice team and Visiting Angels of Rockford for the support given to the family.

Service at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 3300 Rural Street, Rockford, IL, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery, Rockford, IL. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.
