Sharon Rae Hawes, 74, of Rockford passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017. Born June 15, 1942, in Morris, IL, the daughter of Warren C. and Erma E. (Bristol) Turner. She graduated from Harvard, IL, High School, Class of 1960. Married Harold “Jack” Hawes on June 25, 1960. She became a licensed cosmetologist and managed a small beauty shop for a short time. She also worked at Home Federal Savings and through several mergers, retired from US Bank in 2003 after 26 years of service. She was an active church member her whole life and enjoyed singing in the choir and doing other volunteer work. She was also a talented artist and knitter. She enjoyed traveling and loved to be near the water. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved family time vacations. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her husband, Harold; daughter, Pam (Ed) Locke; son, Brian (Chris) Hawes; grandchildren, Cristian and Emily Locke, Payton and Dylan Hawes; sisters, Eileen Bellerud and Lois Kretschmer; brother, Warren Turner; sisters-in-law, Jan Hawes and Sara (Everett) Straw; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents.
Service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, in Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Road, Rockford, with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
