Scott "Scotty" Kalen

Scott “Scotty” L. Kalen, 44, of Loves Park passed away after a short illness Thursday, February 20, 2020. Born September 4, 1975, in Rockford, the son of Mickey and Margaret (Patapack) Kalen. Graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1993. Employed by Viking Chemical for 26 years. He loved spending time with family and friends. Scotty was a racing fan, avid Chicago Cub and Bears fan. He enjoyed bike riding, grilling, campfires in the back yard and feeding the squirrels. Survivors include his father, Mickey (Valorie) Kalen; mother, Margaret “Maggie” (Rick) Donaldson; fiancé, Kim Bates; brothers Kevin (Jennifer) Kalen and Darin Donaldson; sister, Tori (Jeff) Black-Belt; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister, Christine Krugen; paternal grandparents, Peter and Barbara Kalen; and maternal grandparents, Albert and Margaret Patapack.

Service at 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2020, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park with visitation from 4 p.m. to service time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
