Sam Latorre

Sam Frank LaTorre, 87, of Rockford passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017. Born July 25, 1930, in Rockford, the son of Peter and Rosalie (Canino) LaTorre.  Veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the U.S. Army.  Married Bertha M. Abene on May 13, 1950, in Rockford.  Sam was employed by Warner Lambert for 20 years, retiring in 1990 to enjoy life with his wife and family.  He was a member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church.  During his school years Sam played basketball for Saint Anthony School.  He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards a couple times a week with friends.  Sam enjoyed the Teamsters casino bus trip and looked forward to the monthly get together.  Sam especially enjoyed watching his son play the guitar while he danced with the ladies.  Sam was very friendly,  well-liked by all and has gained numerous friends over the years.  Survivors include his sons, Larry (Stephanie) LaTorre and Sam (Marah) LaTorre; grandchildren, Matthew LaTorre, Tamie LaTorre, Tiffany Huitzacua and Shelly Owens; great-grandchildren, Autumn LaTorre, Emily, October, Raven and Jaxon.  Predeceased by his wife, Bertha; parents, Peter and Rosalie; and sisters, Catherine, Mary, Jenny and Annie.

Service at noon Wednesday, September 6, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10:30 a.m. to service time. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
