Ruth July

Ruth L. July, 93, of Rockford died Thursday, April 7, 2016, in her home. Born October 22, 1922, in Rockford, the daughter of Porter and Belle (Taylor) Scott. Married Duane C. July on February 22, 1941, in Rockford. Owned and operated Ruth July Draperies for over 60 years. Member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. Survivors include son, Dale (Sue) July; grandchildren, David (Valerie) and Bryan (Renee) July; great-grandchildren, Dakota James Miller, Natori Cassioppi, Elyjah Derr and Raelynn July; brother, Wayne (Dee) Scott; numerous nieces and nephews; special pet cat, D.C. Predeceased by her husband in 2005; grandson, Eric July; sister, Dorothy Hulick; brothers, Howard, Warren and Robert Scott. Grandma was affectionately known as “BBG” by her grandsons.

Memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in Riverside Community Church, 6816 N. 2nd Street, Machesney Park, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to service time. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., Loves Park. A memorial will be established.
