Russell Allen Logsdon, 90, of Byron passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Born August 6, 1926, in Litchfield, the son of William and Mathilda (Burkhardt) Logsdon. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at San Louis Obispo, California; there he married Opal Lavon White on August 7, 1946. They were married for almost 66 years before Opal’s passing in 2013. Russell was employed by Barber-Colman, retiring in 1988. Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church. Survivors include daughter, Linda (Kevin) Branscomb; son, Ross (Linda) Logsdon; grandchildren, Kathy Montalbano, Peter (Veronica) Gaddis, Ryan Logsdon and Kyle Logsdon; great-grandchildren, Andrew (Brooke) Diaz, Ashley (Chris) Leslie and Peter J. Gaddis; several great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Logsdon; sisters, Doris Traeger and Betty Triplett; cousins, Joyce Schwab and Shirley Wilson; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; wife; brothers, William, Earl and Robert; and daughter-in-law, Patti. Special thanks to Generations at Neighbors and Heartland Hospice.
Service at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 12, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 1 p.m. to service time. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
