Russell D. James, 75, of Loves Park passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Born November 1, 1942, in Rockford, son of Henry and Betty J. (Lorenzen) James. Married Kay Zimmerman on May 18, 1963. Retired from Rehnberg-Jacobson Corp. after 27 years. Formerly employed by Rock Valley Brick and Supply and Forte Automation. He was Steward for UAW Local 517 for many years. Volunteered for the Rock River Valley Emergency Squad. Russ was active in the Windsor School PTA and H.C.C. Baseball. He was a founding member of the North Park 4th of July Committee. Russ enjoyed fishing and was a gentle man who had a great smile. He was an avid Cubs, Bears and racing fan. Survivors include his wife, Kay; son, Brian (Karen) James; daughter; Lorri (Ron) Clevenger; son, Saul (Jan) Serna; grandchildren, Sarah (Craig) Combs, Nikole (Ben) Behling, Jake (Jenna) James, Kelsey James and Carlos (Kaitlyn) Serna; great-grandchildren, Arabella and Maddox Combs, Lilly and Mathew Behling; brothers, Dale James, Jerry (Holly) James and Joe (Debbie) James; sisters, Elizabeth Harris and Vicky James; sister-in-law, Alberta James. Predeceased by his parents and brothers, Mike and Danny.
Service at 11 a.m. Monday, July 2, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 1, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
