Russell L. Gentry, 86, of Rockford passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021, in his home. Born September 8, 1934, in Kennett, MO, the son of Clarence and Ollie (Gray) Gentry. Married Arlene R. Bigger on October 17, 1953, in Rockford. Employed by Amerock for 43 years. Russell loved ice cream, attending county fairs, NASCAR, watching Western movies and space shuttle launches. He was a people person with a good sense of humor. Russell enjoyed vacationing with his wife. Survivors include his daughter, Jeannie (Bill) Blosser; great-grandchildren, Caiden Cruz and Oralia Cruz; brothers, Donald (Mary) Gentry and Jim (Linda) Gentry; sister-in-law, Carolyn Oslund; special niece, Jessica Oslund; son-in-law, Scott Pearson; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends and caregivers, Ashia and Eastyn and the Whitney family; and best buddy, Flip. Predeceased by his parents; wife; daughter, Cindy Pearson; granddaughter, Tiffani Cruz; sister, Victoria; and brothers, Dellas and Lester Gentry.
Service at noon Thursday, August 19, 2021, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 11 a.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
