Rose Mary Highland, 91, of Rockford, IL, was reunited with her husband, Thomas, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. She was born July 9, 1933, in Rockford and was the daughter of Anthony and Domenica (Loria) Cascio of Roccamena, Sicily. On September 7, 1957, she married Thomas H. Highland at St. Anthony Church. Rose Mary was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, in Rockford. She volunteered at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center for 35 years, devoting much of that time working in the Center for Cancer Care. Rose Mary enjoyed time spent with family celebrating life, especially at Green Lake, WI. She was a Chicago Cubs baseball fan and held a deep, patriotic love for our country.

Survivors include her children, Jane Volland of Barrington, IL, David (Diane) Highland of Monument, CO, Mary (Jeff) Lyons of Playa Del Rey, CA, Julie (Robert) Reesor of Rockford, IL, and Sheila (Scott) Kitzman of Roscoe, IL; grandchildren, Emily (Kit) Fransen, Zachary Volland, Michael Highland, Clare (Tyler) Guggenberger, Sullivan Lyons, Sarah Lyons, Anne Reesor, Jane Reesor, Elena Kitzman, and Jack Kitzman; great-grandchildren, Isla, Kira, and Bear James Fransen; numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; 12 brothers and sisters; and her beloved husband.

Catholic Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Road, Rockford, with Fr. William Wentink officiating, visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. to service time. Burial to follow in Irish Grove Catholic Cemetery, Davis, IL. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
