Ronald “Ron” Evans Thomas, 78, of Roscoe passed away Friday, July 1, 2022, in Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon, IL. Born September 15, 1943, in Oregon, IL, the son of Roy Walter and Mildred Mary (Evans) Thomas and grew up on the family farm in Mt. Morris. Graduated Mt. Morris High School in 1961. Married Sandra Winters on November 13, 1964. She predeceased him on January 11, 1994. Later married Jean K. Herold on March 11, 1997, in Las Vegas, NV. She predeceased him on May 14, 2018. Retired from Chrysler as a member of UAW Local 1268 after many years of service. After retirement, Ron worked at Kelly Williamson Mobil. Ron enjoyed traveling, spending time outdoors, spending winters in Arizona with many special friends and NASCAR racing. Avid Bears and Cubs fan. Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth (Steven) Nethery; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Zachary, Joseph Nethery, David (Stephanie) Nethery and Jack (Theresa) Nethery; great-grandchildren, Parker, Tyler and Alex Zachary, Lucy, Mary, Gwen, Connor, and Brady Nethery; siblings, Judith E. Champagne, Sandra E. Groshans, Faith E. Cashman, and Thomas E. Thomas; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Lori Albee. Predeceased by his parents and wives.
Service at 11 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2022, in Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Pastor Brent Dahlseng officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials to Serenity House Hospice.
