Ronald Kermit Jensen, Sr.

Ronald Kermit “Big R”, “Poppo”, “Bumpa” Jensen, Sr., 77, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023. Born September 26, 1945, in Belvidere, IL, the son of Karl Fred and Carol Louise (Morgan) Jensen. Veteran of the U.S. Airforce, with a rank of Sergeant, serving as a jet engine mechanic. Married Mary Jiminez Galindo on May 25, 1965. Employed by Woodward Governor as a production manager from 1967 to 2002. Ronald taught in the aviation department at Rock Valley College for many years. He enjoyed working on airplanes, cars, and motorcycles. Ronald loved Christmas, being with his family, helping people, traveling, and especially road trips. He enjoyed eating, taking the entire family out to buffets, music, singing, and building his own speakers with his son. When waiting for his wife, Ronald would say “Mary, you’re holding me hostage”! Survivors include his wife, Mary; children, Ronald (Lora) Jensen, Jr., Rhonda (Phil) Valdez, Rodney Jensen, and Jimmy (Janet) VanKirk; special grandchildren, Austin Jensen, and Samantha Jensen; grandson, Ronald Jensen III; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Tessa, and Ronald Jensen IV; canine companion, Precious; special niece, Ruthie. Predeceased by his parents; children, Timothy Olson, and Jodi Richards; granddaughter, Sierra Jensen; sister, Judy Ehlen; brother, Randy Jensen; nephew, David Ehlen Jr.; Uncle Johnny Jensen; and canine companions, Simon, Sheba, Tundra, Tacoma, and Big Red. Service at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 11:30 a.m. to service time. Cremation rites accorded.
