Ronald H. Granath, 92, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 19, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family. Born February 3, 1932, in Rockford, IL, the son of Harold and Helen (Haughawout) Granath. Attended Harlem High School. Veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Barbara Thomas on May 19, 1953. Employed by Sundstrand for more than 30 years, retiring in 1982. Member of Grace Lutheran Church and Harlemites Breakfast Club. He loved attending and coaching his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Ronald attended car shows with his beloved 1951 Chevy, “Charlie”. He enjoyed working in his yard and flowers. Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Barbara; children, Jeff (Lori) Granath, Sue (Randy) Dimmel, Linda (Bill) Beaver, Scott (Denise) Granath, and Lisa (Chris) DiGiovanni; grandchildren, Emily (Luis) Torrijos, Paige (Cal) Ferry, Brett (Emily) Granath, Tyler Dimmel, Misty (Ben) DeWitt, Chad Jenkins, Charles (Gina) Beaver, Sarah (Dwight) Clark, Kiana Granath, Shayla (Derek) Morrow, Collin Granath, Cody (Ally) DiGiovanni, Tanner (Lexi) DiGiovanni, and Trey DiGiovanni; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Donna Granath; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; and brother, Richard Granath.
Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Avenue, Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation also from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2024, in Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
