Ronald L. Bevan, 82, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 8, 2025, in his home surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. Born November 9, 1942, in Rockford, IL, the son of John Russell and Edith Aileen (Bailey) Bevan. Graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1960. He married Barbara Marinaro on March 16, 1963. Employed by Sundstrand for 41 years, retiring in 2003. Ronald was a lifelong lover of music and sports and was a proud Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Bears fan. Whether playing his guitar, sharing his favorite memories, or cheering on his favorite teams, he brought joy, passion, and energy to every moment. He especially loved watching his grandchildren perform and play sports-nothing brought him more pride than seeing them shine. Known for his great sense of humor, he had a gift for making others laugh and feel at ease. He also had many lifelong friends that he played golf and fished with, who treasured his loyalty, laughter, and warmth through the years. His quick wit, kind heart, and deep love for his family and friends will be remembered always. Survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara; children, John (Maria) Bevan, Jim Bevan, and Christa (Dan) Resenbeck; grandchildren, Alexandria Bevan, Abby Alton, John (Serenity) Bevan, Jason Bevan, Nico Bertolino, and Juliana Bevan; great-grandson, Brady Bouland; sisters, Sue (John) Pruitt, and Patricia Wade; numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends, Ronald Kotche and family, Bob (Sandy) Roell, Dennis Kolata (Jackie), and Ronald (Kathy) Johnson. Predeceased by his parents. Special thanks to Northern Illinois Hospice, nurses, caregivers, and volunteers; and special nursing care Brooklynn Jackson for her love and support.
Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 9910 Badger Trail, Belvidere, IL. Cremation rites accorded. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his name.
