Roger C. Yuccas, 82, of Rockford passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016, from complications related to advanced colon cancer. Born January 27, 1934, in Rockford, the son of Paul and Mitzi (Shakotzus) Yuccas. Veteran of U.S. Army. Married Antonette Mistretta on June19, 1954, in Rockford. Retired pipefitter with Local 23. At the age of 12, after watching Ted Williams, he became a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. He was a loving and devoted husband who was adored and respected by his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Survivors include his wife and love of his life, Antonette; children, Dan (Julie) Yuccas, Kassey (Ed) Lang and Tom (Linda Sutton) Yuccas; grandchildren, Stacey and Paul Yuccas, Stephanie, Jordan and Tyler Lang and Aly (Aaron) Vavra; great-granddaughter, Luna Jolene Vavra; many special nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and brother, Robert; father and mother-in-law, Nick and Sarah Mistretta; sister-in-law, Jenny Plymale; brother-in-law, Charles Misuraca; and lifelong friend, Andy Anastase. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the excellent medical team at Rockford Memorial Hospital who was there for Dad.
Services at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 29, at Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from noon to time of service in the funeral home. Private burial.
