Roger C. Myers, 76, of Rockford went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 4, 2018, in his home. Born October 9, 1941, in Freeport, the son of Maurice Lewis and Miriam Agnes (Folgate) Myers. Graduated from Freeport High School, received a bachelor’s degree from Bradley University and master’s degree from Northern Illinois University. Roger served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He earned several honors including the Meritorious Service Medal from the Commander in Chief of the Pacific Theater. Married Wanda L. Schult on May 17, 1964, in Freeport. Formerly employed by Micro Switch, Barber-Colman Company and retired from Sundstrand Corporation in 2002. Member of New Life Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was both an avid Chicago Cubs fan and a fan of the former Brooklyn Dodgers. Roger loved baseball and reading. Survivors include his wife, Wanda; son, Scott Myers; daughter, Melinda (Gregory) Colson; grandchildren, Andrew (Melissa) Myers, Matthew Colson and Sarah Colson; brother, Larry (Carol) Myers; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; and brother, Robert Myers. The family greatly appreciated the help from Northern Illinois Hospice.
Memorial service at noon Saturday, June 16, at New Life Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1100 North Lyford Road, Rockford, with visitation from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to New Life Evangelical Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., of Loves Park.
