Roger D. Engstrom, 63, of Rockford passed away peacefully Monday, October 17, 2016. Born February 18, 1953, in Rockford, the son of Donald W. and Allene (Arends) Engstrom. Attended West High School. Member of Ironworkers Local 498. He worked on projects, large and small, throughout the Midwest for many years. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he was confirmed as catholic. Roger adored life, family and friends. He never met a stranger. He could be boisterous, funny and outgoing, with a larger than life personality. He enjoyed riding his Harleys, building motorcycles and motorbikes, remodeling his homes, spending time gardening, fishing, canoeing and listening to country western music. He loved his red pickup truck, his dog, Max, and was an avid Detroit Lions fan. Roger will be loved and missed by his family and many friends. Survivors include his son, Michael (Michelle) Busky of Huntley; daughter, Angela (Michael) Hennegan of Fort Wayne, Indiana; five grandchildren, Thomas and Mia Hennegan, Brendan, Kaitlyn and Alyssa Busky; brothers, Ronald (Karen) Engstrom of Anchorage, Alaska, and Randall Engstrom of Rockford; sisters, Ruth (Barry) Roschlau of Anchorage, Linda (Charles) Pike of Davison, Michigan; nieces, Jacque and Racin; and nephew, Eric. Predeceased by his parents and beloved dog, Max. The family wishes to thank the staff at Amberwood Care Center for their support and care.
Memorial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2016, in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Road, Rockford, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
