Rodney Johnson

November 10, 1942 — February 15, 2023

Rodney Duane Johnson, 80, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.  Born November 10, 1942, in Rockford, the son of Burdette and Sarah (Cudia) Johnson.  Graduated from Rockford West High School, Class of 1961, and Rockford College.  He married Pamela Severson on June 15, 1968. Employed by First National Bank, Rockford Board of Education, Prudential, various car dealerships including Joe Daniel's in Dekalb and Napleton’s of Rockford.  He loved to golf and play softball.  Rodney was very proud of his daughter and grandchildren.  He had the gift to gab and never met a stranger.  Rodney loved to visit with his buddies over coffee.  He would show off photos of his grandchildren to anyone who would look.  Avid Green Bay Packers fan to the end.  Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer (Paul) Kahler; granddaughters, Hunter and Raven Kahler; grandson, Griffin Kahler; sister, Delores Schmeiser; ex-wife, Pamela Powers; sister-in-law, Kimberlee Wescott; nieces and nephews, Thomas, Tracy, and Erik Schmeiser, Andrea Maggio, and Heather Trent; numerous cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by his parents; infant son, Jarrett Duane Johnson; nephew, Bradley Leason; and longtime girlfriend, Ann Parkins.

Services were private.  Cremation rites accorded.  Inurnment was at Harlem Cemetery, Loves Park, IL, where he was laid to rest next to his son.  Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
