Rodney L. Hardy, 71, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, in his home. Born January 11, 1953, in Rockford, the son of James D. “Sonny” and Violet M. “Vi” (Hinkle) Hardy. He adored the time spent with the love of his life, Gail (Smith) Knight-Hardy. Employed by Caldwell for more than 30 years. Member of SM &SF Club and Northern Illinois Watch Club. Rodney enjoyed going to flea markets, attending the Pec thing, traveling to the Sturgis Bike Rally, attending car shows, and their beloved GTO. Survivors include his sons, Randy (Sherry) Hardy, Tim (Heather) Hardy and Mike (Jen) Hardy; daughter, Amy Martinez; son-in-law, Saul Martinez; grandchildren, Misty, Alexis, Gavin, Grace, LeAnn, and Liliana; sister, Gloria Huckabee; and brother, Gary (Margaret) Hardy. Predeceased by his parents; wife; brother, Jimmie Hardy; and feline best friend, Hamilton.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2024, in Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in the funeral home. Burial in Flora Cemetery, Kirkland, IL. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
