Robert John “Fuzzy” Weyrauch, 93, of Loves Park passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021. Born October 25, 1928, in Rockford, the youngest child of eight to Christian and Julia B. (Treder) Weyrauch. Known to many as “Fuzzy” since he was eight years old, and a barber gave him the nickname because his haircut was so “FUZZY”. He graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1946. Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from August 1946 to 1950 and a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves serving from 1951 to 1952. He married the love of his life, Rose Barbara “Barb” Trapani on June 16, 1951. Formerly employed by Central Illinois Gas and Electric Company and retired from Commonwealth Edison as a lineman from in 1989 after 37 years. Member of the IBEW Local #15 for 38 years, St. Bridget Catholic Church, Bishop Muldoon Council #470 and 190, Knights of Columbus of Rockford, as a 4th Degree Knight, American Legion Post 0197 in Pecatonica, Moose Club Post 1289 in Harvard, Korean War Veterans Association, Illinois Sheriffs Association, and Harlem High School Alumni Breakfast Club. Fuzzy loved GOLF, golfing, and more golf! An avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He was often seen watching a game on TV (on mute) while listening to the radio commentators. Fuzzy was a Boy Scout leader when his boys were young and attended every sports game and school function that he could. His greatest life joy was a new name he got in 1990, GRANDPA! His grandkids were the joy of his life! Spending time with them, taking them anywhere they needed to go, teaching them how to drive, going to every sports game, choir concert, dance recitals and musical / plays. Grandpa never missed a one! Fuzzy is survived by his three sons, Robert (Sheryl) of Machesney Park, Thomas (Patricia) of Loves Park, and Dr. Daniel (Joy) Weyrauch of Rockford; grandchildren, Nicolaus (Skye) Weyrauch of Las Vegas, NV, Angela (Justin) McKay of Machesney Park, Evan (Nicole) Weyrauch of Cambridge, MA, Brigham (Allie Bickel) Weyrauch of Missoula, MT, Rhys Weyrauch of Rockford, and James Weyrauch of Rockford; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Predeceased by his parents; wife; grandson, John Weyrauch; brothers, Arthur Weyrauch and Christian Weyrauch; sisters, Maxine Liomin, Marge Newman, Mildred Hayes, Carol McCord, and Catherine Clements.
Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021, in St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time.
