Robert Leo Petty
Robert Leo Petty, 66, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, in his childhood home. Born February 12, 1956, in Rockford, IL, the son of James P. and Lois Jean (Rowland) Petty, Sr. Married Cheryl Lynn Gillette on June 28, 1975, in Machesney Park. Employed by Modern Metal for 25 years and formerly by Barber-Colman and J.L. Clark. Member of Calvary Memorial Church. Robert enjoyed working on and rebuilding cars. He loved woodworking, tinkering in the garage, collecting antiques and fishing trips. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; son, Timothy “Tim” (Samantha “Sam”) Petty; grandchildren, Kaelub Petty and Lylliahna Petty; siblings, James (Jackie) Petty, Jr., David Petty, and Martha (Mike) McGrew; numerous nieces and nephews; canine companion, Lizzy; and best friend, William “Bill” (Mindy) Stivers. Predeceased by his parents.
Memorial service at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Calvary Memorial Church, 2715 North Alpine Road, Rockford, IL, with visitation from 2 p.m. to service time. Cremation rites accorded. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.
