Robert "Bob" Dean Parks, 90, of Rockford was called home Thursday, April 20, 2017. Born June 3, 1926, in Moline Hospital, the youngest of 5 children and the only one born in a hospital. The son of Will and Laura (Davis) Parks, Sr. Active in 4-H Club and Boy Scouts. Bob achieved Eagle Scout in 1943. Graduated from Reynolds High School in 1944. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. Bob trained on PT Boats and served on a radio transmitter base in the Philippines. Married Arlene Baldinger on January 30, 1949, in Rockford. He had a number of jobs over the years, but retired from Twin Disc after 23 years. Active member of Grace Lutheran Church for over 60 years. Bob loved spending time with his family and camping. Avid golfer and Chicago Bears fan. Survivors include wife, Arlene; son, Bruce (Emily Hathaway) Parks; 2 grandchildren, Julie (Craig) Veile and Paul Parks; 1 great-granddaughter, Emerson Veile. Predeceased by his son, Ted Parks; 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Service at 11 a.m., Monday, April 24th, 2017, in Grace Lutheran Church. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation from 10 a.m. to time of service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Lutheran Endowment Fund.
