Robert "B.J." Meehan

Robert “B.J.” J. Meehan, 79, of Machesney Park was reunited with his wife Wednesday, February 10, 2021, in his home surrounded by family.  Born April 29, 1941, in Chicago, the son of Robert E. and Virginia (Pezan) Meehan.  Veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  Married Mary L. Mills on December 9, 1961, in Chicago.  Retired from Strandquist Motors in 1996 after more than 25 years.  Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, Macktown Men’s Association, Machesney Park Rotary, and Irish Marching Society.  He loved playing golf and taking road trips in his red convertible with family.  Avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.  Survivors include his son, Michael Meehan of Madison, Wis.; daughter, Peggy (Chad) Hargraves of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Tad Meehan of Machesney Park, Garrett (Courtney) Hargraves of Loves Park, Brock Hargraves of Machesney Park, Connor (Allison) Hargraves of Kirkland, Brennon Hargraves of Machesney Park and Braedon Hargraves of Machesney Park; great-grandchildren, Liam, Payton, Canaan, Ezra and Ireland Hargraves; sister, Fran Meehan of Chicago; brother, Shawn (Rosie) Meehan of Valencia, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; bonus sons, Steven and Dean Camacho; and loving pet, Buster.  Predeceased by his parents; wife; and sister, Judy Ghulam.  Thanks to family, friends, and Northern Illinois Hospice for your love and support.

Memorial walk through visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2021, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with social distancing and face coverings required.  Private family memorial services will be held.
