Robert “Bob” Reid Kleckner, 70, of Belvidere, passed away suddenly Thursday, March 16, 2017. Born July 2, 1946, in Rockford, the son of Clarence W. and Margaret A. (Reid) Kleckner. Graduated from West High School, Class of 1964. Veteran of the Vietnam conflict where he was stationed in Korea, serving in the U.S. Army. Married Diane L. Rockwell on December 9, 1995. They shared many happy years together. Bob was a self-employed real estate developer and an accomplished entrepreneur. Notable projects include Perry Creek Plaza, Rockford Title Building and Gingerwood Condominiums. Bob was an avid golfer who also enjoyed traveling with family and entertaining friends. Survivors include his children, Kristine Fitzgerald of Huntley, Kevin (Stephanie) Kleckner of Sun Prairie, WI, Ken (Kathy) Peterson of Littleton, CO, and Kristine (Craig) Cooper of Loves Park; grandchildren, Nathan and Ryan Fitzgerald, Summer, Finnley, Everett and Aspyn Kleckner, Carly and Kevin Peterson, and Nicholas Cooper; several nieces and nephews; and beloved golden retrievers, Katie and Maggie. Predeceased by his wife; parents; sisters, Mary Alice Kleckner and Jean Anderson; and brother-in-law, Michael Anderson. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at OSF Heart Center.
Service at noon Saturday, March 25, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 11 a.m. to service time. Burial in Argyle Scottish Cemetery. Visitation also from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 24, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
