Robert Goranson

Robert Gerald Goranson, 82, of Rockford passed away Friday, December 7, 2018, in Alden Alma Nelson. Born September 14, 1936, in Rockford, the son of Harold and Mary (Reed) Goranson. Married Shirley L. Alberts on October 13, 1958, in Rockford. Retired from Rockford Foundries and Greenlee Brothers after 20 years. Member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where he loved attending and working at the church corn boil. Robert enjoyed fishing, bird watching, gardening and long drives in the country with his wife. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; sons, David Goranson and John (JoAnn) Goranson; grandchildren, Emma Anderson and Ashley (Sam) Lawrence; sister-in-law, Bonnie Mund; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother, Bruce Goranson. Special thanks to Mercy Health Hospice and Comfort Keepers, his Wednesday lunch group at Doc’s Diner and to his church family at Aldersgate United Methodist.

Celebration of Life will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019, in Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4055 North Rockton Ave., Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for a memorial to be established with the American Cancer Association. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., of Loves Park.
