Robert “Bob” D. Clifton, 95, of Rockford passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021, in his home. Born March 14, 1926, in Kirksville, MO, the son of Charles I. and Roxy L. (Story) Clifton. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force and U.S. Navy. Married JoAnne A. Van Cauwenbergh on June 10, 1950, in Rockford. Employed as an electrician by Sundstrand Corporation, retiring after 30 years. He loved the outdoors, rock picking, treasure hunting with a metal detector and coin collecting. Bob enjoyed RVing with his wife, JoAnne, two of his brothers and their wives. He taught himself how to play guitar, harmonica and emulate Chet Atkinson’s picking style. Survivors include his daughter, Roxanne Clifton of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Terri Clifton of Roscoe; grandchildren, Amanda (Jesse) Miller, Aaron (Noelle) Miller, Charlie (Jenny) Clifton and Chris Clifton; great-grandchildren, Scarlett Miller of Byron, Mallory, Cooper and Jovie Clifton all of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; loving companion, Darlene Zilmer; dogs, Gibson and Angel-B; special caregiver and friend, Barb. Predeceased by his parents; wife; son, Chuck Clifton; 11 siblings.
