Richard “Rich” D. Harms, 70, of Rockford passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018, in SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born July 10, 1948, in Syracuse, KS, the son of Earnest and Glenda (Pettinger) Harms. Moved from Atlanta, GA, in 1978 to Rockford. Graduated from Cardinal Stritch College, while employed at Rockford Products for 30 years. Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. Most recently employed at Shoe Carnival for the last 10 years. Rich enjoyed football and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He loved spending time on the golf course, weekend breakfasts at Johnny Pamcakes and listening to music. Survivors include his daughters, Kara (Chris) Birnbaum and Laren Harms; son, Kevin Harms; grandchildren, Kahlee and Justen Birnbaum; sister, Kathy Beamis; and brother, Randy Pettinger. Predeceased by his parents; sister, Barbara Woodman; and brother, Raymond Pettinger.
Memorial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
