Reverend Philip Leombruni

January 30, 1946 — July 28, 2016

Rev. Philip J. Leombruni, 70, of Rockford went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ Thursday, July 28, 2016. Born January 30, 1946, in Rockford, the son of John A. and Frances Lena (Catalani) Leombruni. He graduated from West High School, Class of 1964, and married Diana Higgins on January 6, 1968, in Rockford. They were married for 48 years. Rev. Phil was employed at the City of Rockford for 14 years and was called into the ministry and attended Bible College in Tulsa, OK, Class of 1984. He and Diana Founded New Life Assembly of God in November of 1985. He also ministered at the Rockford Rescue Mission for many years. Rev. Phil loved traveling, hosting Pilgrimages to the Holyland as well as fishing and swimming. He lived life to the fullest. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Diana; son, Jason (Jennifer) Leombruni; daughter, Alicia Leombruni; grand-dogs, Alex, Sugar, Hachi and Sawkey; sister, Sandra (David) Steiner; brothers, John (Susan) Leombruni and Michael (Miki) Leombruni; sister-in-law, Peggy Greene; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special “ones to us”, Elaine Arco, Tammy Horsley, Brian Weatherwax and Rev. David (Rev. Karen) Peyton. Predeceased by his parents and mother-in-law, Virginia Elliott; fathers-in-law, Harold Diehl and Clyde Higgins; sister-in-law, Kimberly Diehl. The family wishes to thank his church family, friends and Heartland Hospice, especially Lindsay, and a big thank you to all of his doctors and nurses for all of their loving care. Most of all, he would like to thank his Lord Jesus Christ for the Cross! We greatly miss him. We love him forever and will see him in Heaven!

Memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 13, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated in memory of Rev. Phil to New Life Assembly of God, 8501 Forest Hills Road, Loves Park, IL 61111. “May God bless you all!” John 3:16
