Reginald Holden

Reginald Mendel “Elroy” Holden went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 13, 2020, in his home in Rockford, Illinois, at the age of 52. He was born April 30, 1968, in Rockford, the son of Willie F. and Cassie M. (Graham) Holden.

Reggie is survived by his mother, Cassie M. Bass of Rockford, Illinois; three children, Reginald Jr., RaShad and Christopher; two grandson; Montrell and Owen; one granddaughter; SamYa; siblings, Eric (Lenette) Holden of South Beloit, Illinois, Alex Holden of Rockford, Illinois, Alan of Rockford, Illinois, Shareen Holden of Rockford, Illinois, and Carla (Troy) Hall of Rockford, Illinois. Reggie is preceded in death by his father Billy “Willie” Franklin Holden of Potts Camp, Mississippi; brothers, Kevin of Rockford, Illinois, Wendell of Potts Camp, Mississippi, and Brady of Potts Camp, Mississippi, respectively.

Reggie’s family and friends remember him as a kind, positive, fun loving, full of life person. Everybody has that Uncle in the family that is just going to live young, wild, and free. Reggie was him. He swore he was the most handsome man in the family and would bet everything he had that he could keep up with his nephews, that’s why he was called “Uncle Elroy”. He was a smooth laid-back individual who would manage to keep his head up through whatever life threw his way. Uncle Reggie was the favored by all his nephews; RaShawn, Ryan, Eric Jr., Erin, Timothy, Antwyan, Peautray, Jermaine, Alex, Keith Jr. and Xavier; and nieces; Alexandria Atiana, Damaria, La’Creasha, Danesha, and Johnisha.

Reggie was an individual who loved his dogs, fishing, spending time with his nephews, nieces, family, and friends. Reggie was passionate about living his best life. The family would like to thank the friends of the family and hospice staff for their efforts, care, and dedication.

Services will be private on Thursday, May 21, 2020. In lieu of flowers, memorials may directed to Cassie Bass for a memorial to be established in memory of Reginald Holden.
