Rebecca “Becky” A. Simmons, 84, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 9, 2023, in her home surrounded by her family. Born December 13, 1938, in Shenandoah, VA, the daughter of Rex and Elsie (May) Yeary. Married Robert “Bob” M. Simmons, on September 8, 1956, in Kirkland, IL. Employed by Target for 10 years, retiring in 2007. Becky loved gardening, crocheting, making quilts, and watching golf. Survivors include her husband, Bob; daughters, Debra Timm of Rockford, IL, Sandy (Johnie) Blade of Tampa, FL, and Susan (Curtis Thompson) Durham of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Michelle (Joe) Gonzales of Rockford, Dawn (fiancé, Scott Johnson) Timm of Fond du Lac, WI, Megan (Jason Dittman) Timm of Rockford, Nicole (fiancé, Orlando Maldonado) Blade of Tampa, FL, Robert Blade of Tampa, Jeffrey Simmons, Kodie Durham, Nikalas Durham, and Maelee Thompson, all of Machesney Park; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce (J.C.) Capps; many nieces and nephews; and fur baby, Hunter. Predeceased by her parents; son, Robert “Mike” Simmons; son-in-law, Art Timm; brother, Rex Yeary; and fur baby, Tommy. The family wishes to thank Visiting Nurses for their care and compassion.
Service at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, with visitation from 12:30 p.m. to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
