Raymond Powers

Raymond R. “Willie” Powers, 75, of Machesney Park passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 18, 2018, in his home surrounded by family. Born December 12, 1942, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Russell and Lily (Vandervate) Powers. Graduated from Galena High School, Class of 1960. Veteran of the Vietnam conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. Married Pamela A. Severson on September 28, 2010, in Rockford. Employed by Chrysler for 40 years, retiring in 2008. Member of Belvidere Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Venetian Club. Willie was a NASCAR enthusiast and an avid Chicago Bear and Cub fan. Survivors include his wife, Pamela; sons, Bob (Micki), Frank (Kelly), Don (Amy) and Will (Danielle) Powers; grandchildren, Justin (Erika) Rolando, Kaelyn, Becca, Rene and Shawn Powers, Hunter, Raven and Griffin Kahler, Graham, Fiona, August and Arden Powers; 4 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents. The family wishes to thank Ed, the Palliative Care Chaplain with OSF.

Service at 10 a.m. Monday, April 23, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Burial in Harlem Cemetery. Visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 22, in the funeral home.
