Raymond John McCune

Raymond “Ray” John McCune, 46, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at UI Health in Chicago, IL. He was born on Monday, May 12, 1980, in Rockford, IL, the son of Thomas F. and Anita (Lopata) McCune. Ray loved most of his life in the Loves Park, IL, area. Employed by Ingersoll Machine Tools. In his early years, Ray volunteered as a firefighter. He was a proud fan of open wheel sprint racing. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help others. Avid Green Bay Packer fan. Ray had a love for animals. Survivors include his fiancée, Katie Burkum; twin brother, Ryan McCune; uncle, Pete (Diane) Lopata; niece, Elizabeth; and numerous cousins. Predeceased by his parents; grandparents; and uncle, John Lopata.

Funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026, in Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL, with visitation from noon to service time. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for a memorial to be established.
