Ralph “Lefty” R. Jury, 91, longtime resident of Loves Park passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2021, in Fair Oaks Rehab & Health Care Center. Born November 7, 1929, in Rockford, the son of Ira W. and Isabell M. (Bahling) Jury. Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Married Verda Lois Smith. Owned and operated Top Hat Restaurant and formerly employed by Rockford Black Top and William Charles Construction. Member of Grace Lutheran Church. Avid Bears and Cubs fan. He enjoyed fishing, was on the First Bank of Loves Park board, Harlem school board and Field of Honor committee. Lefty and his family were founders of the Ryan Jury Memorial Golf Outing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. Survivors include his children, Debbie (Alan) Goodrich, Greg Jury, Doug (JoAnne) Jury and Cindy (Bob) Slabaugh; grandchildren, Jennie Kirkpatrick, Chad (Jessica) Jury, Julie (Rob) Wiest, Jared (Ashley) Jury, Grace (Dane) Pennacchi, Hannah (Ryan) Fleming, Nathan (Dana) Slabaugh, Justin (Ashley) Slabaugh and Daniel (Kathleen) Slabaugh; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Jackson, Reid, Owen, Madisyn, Aubrey, Carson, Elle, Delaney, Maddox, Brooklyn, Brodin, Landon, Delilah, Micah, Finley and Rory; sisters, Joan Traff and Marge Grant; brother, Roger Jury; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; wife; grandson, Ryan Jury; and brothers, Richard, Ira and Russell Jury.
Walk through visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with social distancing and face coverings required. Services will be livestreamed on Delehanty Facebook at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 10. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
