Phyllis Mary Bumgarner, 90, of Rockford, IL, was called home to the Lord on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Wesley Willows. Born on Tuesday, October 15, 1935, in Keck, KY, the daughter of Spring Valley, IL, native Peter Paul Powder and Wisconsin native Bertha (Bennett) Powder. Phyllis grew up in the Rockford, IL, area. She married Wilbur Dean “Willie” Bumgarner on April 19, 1958, in Sycamore, IL. Retired from Marshall Fields. Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church. Former member of Third Presbyterian Church Choir. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, and was always reading a good book. Survivors include sons, Andrew (Colleen) Bumgarner and Timothy (Oy) Bumgarner; daughter, Celeste Jackson; grandchildren, Tracey (Bradley) Mullen, Nicholas (Leigh Ann) Jackson, Alexander Baumgarner; great-grandchildren, Emily, Riley, Lilly, Addisyn, and Cole; step-great-grandchildren, Katie and Hannah. Predeceased by her parents; husband; and sister, Patricia Ford.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2026, in St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, IL, with memorial visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Cremation rites accorded. Inurnment in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL.
