Phillip B. Wadleigh, 86, of Roscoe passed away suddenly, traveling from a blessed life on earth, going home to his Savior and wife on Monday, February 12, 2018. Born December 22, 1931, in Evanston, the son of Ralph B. and Cheryl H. (Matter) Wadleigh. Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. Married to Mary M. Woodard for more than 40 years. Employed by A&P for 20 years. He became known by countless people as Phil Wadleigh’s tax service for 30 years. Phil was a devoted family man and caretaker to his wife, Mary, for more than 30 years. He spent joyous time at camps, enjoying people, fishing and boating. Phil was loved by countless people. He served as a bright light in the lives of family and friends alike. He will be truly missed by all. Survivors include his son, Greg Wadleigh; daughter, Kim Wadleigh; stepdaughter, Lou Chandler Smith and Laddie Arnold; stepdaughter also known as a daughter and best friend, Brenda Sanchez; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Schneider; and numerous friends. Predeceased by his parents; beloved wife; and stepsons, Tom Arnold and Thomas Lee Arnold.
Service at noon Friday, February 16, in Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 11 a.m. to service time. Burial in Oakland Cemetery, Freeport. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
